GROVELAND, Fla. — Florida Southern College water ski opened the 2025 season in dominating fashion, securing a decisive team victory over Rollins at Sunset Lakes in Groveland, Fla. The Moccasins posted a combined team score of 1,425 points
, topping the Tars' total of 1,105
.
On the men's side, the Mocs outpaced Rollins 815–705
, showcasing depth and consistency across all three events. The women's squad followed with an equally strong performance, winning 610–400 behind several standout individual efforts.
Florida Southern displayed depth across all events—slalom, trick, and jump—showing both technical skill and consistency. The men set the tone early and closed out strong to keep the margin comfortable, while the women's squad built momentum and never let Rollins mount a significant comeback.
MEN
- Slalom: Jacopo Gargaro and George Malinovski led the way for the Mocs with a 105.50 score, good for a tie for fourth.
- Trick: Malinovski stole the spotlight for the Mocs with an FSC meet-best 3,440 points, finishing second overall.
- Jump: Chase Sparks soared to victory with a massive 47.7-meter (157 ft) jump, claiming first place overall.
Malinovski took the men's overall title with 225 points, while Sparks secured second overall at 205 points.
WOMEN
- Slalom: Sierra Klinchuch topped the field with a 94.00 score, earning first place overall.
- Trick: Perrine Sonier was FSC's top scorer with 1,330 points, placing third overall.
- Jump: Sonier captured another victory with a 40.0-meter (131 ft) effort, finishing first overall.
Sonier also captured first place in the overall standings
(200 points), followed closely by Stenger (2nd overall, 150 points) and Klinchuch (3rd overall, 130 points), giving Florida Southern a sweep of the women's podium.
This win gives FSC momentum as they move into the rest of a challenging season, serving notice to conference rivals that they intend to defend their home lake and keep building toward postseason goals.
Florida Southern returns to action October 4-5. The Moccasins will travel to Harmony, N.C., for the SAC Regional Championship. With both squads showing balance and strength, expectations are high for continued success.
