LAKELAND, Fla. – Florida Southern College Athletics will induct six new individuals into the FSC Athletics Hall of Fame at its Hall of Fame Banquet on Thursday, Feb. 5. This year's announced class includes six former Moccasin student-athletes, including athletes from baseball (2), women's basketball, men's golf, men's swimming, and men's tennis.

The announced class includes former student-athletes Mark Angelo (Baseball, 1980-1983), Marc Becker (Men's Tennis, 2000-2003), John Curley (Men's Golf, 1993-1996), Mark Daly (Baseball, 1973-1976), Jeb Halfacre (Men's Swimming, 2009-2013), and Chelsea Johnson (Women's Basketball, 2007-2011).

Mark Angelo - Baseball, 1980-1983Â
Mark Angelo was a cornerstone of the Florida Southern College baseball program from 1980 to 1983, playing four seasons with three as a starter and helping lead the Mocs to the 1981 NCAA National Championship. An All-American in 1981, Angelo hit an impressive .375 during the championship season and was a consistent offensive and defensive force throughout his collegiate career.

Angelo set multiple program records, including single-season marks for doubles (19) and putouts (523) in 1981, as well as four career records: 202 games played, 685 at bats, 44 doubles, and 1,359 putouts. He remains ranked in the top 10 in ten different career statistical categories at FSC. Over his career, Angelo batted .333 with 20 home runs and 167 RBIs, contributing to the Mocs' remarkable 181-27 record during his four years.

Beyond the 1981 national title, FSC was a consistent powerhouse, finishing as NCAA runners-up and winning the South Regional in all four seasons of Angelo's tenure. He earned All-Sunshine State Conference honors and was drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 18th round of the 1983 MLB Draft.

Angelo's outstanding contributions to Florida Southern baseball were recognized with his induction into the FSC Baseball Hall of Fame in 1988 and later into the Cape Cod League Hall of Fame in 2009.

Mark Angelo passed away in April 2020 after a courageous battle with cancer, leaving behind a lasting legacy as one of the most impactful players in FSC history. He graduated in 1983.

Marc Becker - Men's Tennis, 2000-2003Â
Marc Becker was one of the most accomplished men's tennis players in Florida Southern College history, competing from 2000 to 2003. A three-time First Team All-American, Becker made a lasting impact with both his individual play and doubles success, solidifying his legacy as a cornerstone of the program during the early 2000s.

Over the course of his career, Becker compiled an impressive 46-13 singles record and a 51-23 doubles mark. His 46 career singles victories are tied for sixth-most in FSC history, while his 51 doubles wins rank seventh all-time. He recorded two seasons with 16 singles wins, showcasing his consistency and competitive edge at the top of the lineup.

Becker found exceptional success in doubles alongside partner Ryan Dunne, as the pair combined for a program-record 37 career doubles victories, making them one of the most dominant tandems in Moccasin history.

His achievements extended beyond the court as well. In 2002, he was honored as the regional recipient of the ITA Arthur Ashe Award for Sportsmanship, recognizing his leadership, character, and commitment to the sport. That same year, he was named Sunshine State Conference Player of the Year, adding to his three All-SSC selections across his career.

Becker was also named the 2001 ITA South Region "Player to Watch" and earned Team MVP honors in each of his three seasons. He graduated from Florida Southern in 2003, leaving behind a legacy of excellence, sportsmanship, and record-setting performances.

John Curley - Men's Golf, 1993-1996
John Curley was a standout member of the Florida Southern College men's golf team from 1993 to 1996, helping lead the Moccasins to back-to-back NCAA Division II National Championships in 1995 and 1996. A three-time All-American — including two first-team selections — Curley was one of the most dominant collegiate golfers of his era. He was named the 1996 Sunshine State Conference (SSC) Male Athlete of the Year and earned All-SSC honors in all three of his collegiate seasons.

Known for his consistent excellence, Curley led the Mocs in stroke average for three straight years, posting a 73.77 in 1994 over 30 rounds, a 72.37 in 1995 over 41 rounds, and a career-best 71.76 in 1996 over 34 rounds. He graduated with a career stroke average of 72.57 and was later named to the SSC Silver Anniversary Men's Golf Team in recognition of his outstanding contributions to the sport and the conference. Curley was named by Golf Magazine as the No. 6 amateur golfer in the U.S. Following graduation, he competed for 10 years in various golf tours, including the PGA and Nationwide Tour.
When he retired from professional golf, Curley returned home to the Cape, where he has spent the last 15 years working with the HILB Group, previously Dowling & O'Neill Insurance. He is a member of the board of the Cape Cod Insurance Agents Association.

Mark Daly - Baseball, 1973-1976
Mark Daly was a dominant pitcher for Florida Southern College from 1973 to 1976 and a key member of the Mocs' 1975 NCAA National Championship team. A First Team All-American in 1975, Daly famously pitched a five-hit shutout with 11 strikeouts to send FSC into the national championship game, which the Mocs went on to win.

Daly ranks fourth in program history with 301.2 innings pitched and finished his collegiate career with a stellar 24-9 record, a 2.09 ERA, and 273 strikeouts. He posted outstanding numbers in his junior and senior seasons, going 9-2 with a 1.72 ERA in 1975 and 10-4 with a 2.36 ERA in 1976.

Following his standout college career, Daly was selected in the second round of the 1977 MLB Draft by the Kansas City Royals (44th overall pick). He went on to play five seasons in professional baseball, including three at the AAA level.

Daly graduated from Florida Southern in 1977, leaving a lasting legacy as one of the program's elite pitchers.

Jeb Halfacre - Men's Swimming, 2009-2013Â
Jeb Halfacre is the most decorated swimmer in Florida Southern College history, compiling an incredible 28 All-America honors — including 22 First-Team selections — during his collegiate career from 2009 to 2013. A trailblazer for the Moccasins' men's swimming program, Halfacre made history as the program's first individual national champion, winning three consecutive NCAA Division II titles in the 200-backstroke (2010*, 2011, and 2012).

A consistent force in the pool, Halfacre earned seven All-America honors in each of his four seasons. In addition to his 200-backstroke dominance, he was national runner-up in the 100-backstroke for three straight years (2010–2012), and earned multiple top-three finishes in national relay and individual events, including third place in the 200 individual medley (2012, 2013), 100-backstroke (2013), and 200-backstroke (2013).

He was a key member of several national champion relay teams, including the 400-medley relay (2011, 2012), 800-freestyle relay (2012), and 200-medley relay (2013). He also helped the Mocs to national runner-up and third-place relay finishes across multiple events.

Halfacre still holds multiple FSC program records, including a 1:43.31 in the 200-backstroke (set at the 2012 NCAA Championships), a 1:46.63 in the 200 individual medley (2013), and was part of the record-setting 800-freestyle relay (6:27.73 in 2012).

Recognized for both his athletic excellence and leadership, Halfacre was a two-time SSC Male Athlete of the Year (2011, 2012), a three-time SSC Swimmer of the Year (2011, 2012, Co-Swimmer in 2013), and the 2011 recipient of FSC's Hal Smeltzly Award for Male Athlete of the Year. He was a Team MVP in all four seasons and a four-time SSC Swimmer of the Week, also earning National Swimmer of the Week honors on December 20, 2011.

A dominant performer at the conference level, he was an SSC Champion in 13 events, including the 100 and 200 backstroke, and multiple medley and freestyle relays. Halfacre graduated from Florida Southern in 2013, leaving behind a legacy as one of the greatest swimmers in program and conference history.

Chelsea Johnson - Women's Basketball, 2007-11
Chelsea Johnson ranks among the greatest women's basketball players in Florida Southern College history, leaving a legacy of scoring, shooting precision, and consistent excellence from 2007 to 2011. A dynamic guard and prolific scorer, Johnson finished her career with 2,001 points, the second-most in program history, and a career scoring average of 17.4 points per game, ranking third all-time at FSC.

Renowned for her shooting touch, Johnson holds numerous program records. She is Florida Southern's all-time leader in career three-point field goals made (287) and career three-point field goal percentage (.426). She also owns the single-season record for three-pointers made (78 in 2008-09) and holds four of the top eight spots in that category. Her sharpshooting extended to the free-throw line, where she tied the career record for free throw percentage (.859) and appears multiple times in the top-five single-season free throw percentage list.

Johnson's scoring prowess was on full display in several standout performances, including a 38-point game against Georgia Southwestern (11/21/09) — the fourth-highest single-game total in FSC history — and a 37-point effort against Rollins (1/31/09), which also ranks fourth for a conference game. She scored 29 points against Florida Tech in the 2011 SSC Tournament, the fifth-most in a conference tournament game in FSC history.

A four-time First Team All-Sunshine State Conference selection, Johnson was the 2007-08 SSC Freshman of the Year, a three-time Daktronics All-Region honoree (2008, 2009, 2010), and was named to the 2011 SSC All-Tournament Team. She was also recognized as FSC Team MVP in both her freshman and sophomore seasons, a four-time SSC Player of the Week, and earned academic recognition as a two-time SSC Commissioner's Honor Roll recipient.

Chelsea Johnson's name is etched throughout the Florida Southern record book, not only for her scoring and shooting records but for her consistency, leadership, and legacy as one of the most accomplished players in program history.
