COLUMBIA, S.C. – The No. 15 Florida Southern College women's swimming team finished the Gamecock Invitational with an eighth-place finish in a stacked field of competition at the Carolina Natatorium.

FSC finished in eighth place with 233.5 points among the nine-team field. The host, University of South Carolina, won the invite, followed by the University of North Carolina, the University of Tampa, East Carolina University, University of North Florida, Georgia Southern University, and Savannah College of Art and Design. FSC finished ahead of DII opponent, Carson-Newman University.

The prelims were highlighted by
Alexandra Alkas Alias, who finished 22nd in the women's 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:09.03.
Gabrielle Goodwin was not far behind, placing 24th in the same event.
Rania Khallouqi showed competitive speed in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing 33rd.
Elizabeth Sikes secured a notable 13th-place finish in the women's 200-yard butterfly, clocking in at 2:04.64.

In the finals, Alkas Alias was 16
th in the 200 IM with a time of 2:07.27and Goodwin 21
st. In the 100 free, Khallouqi was 25
th with a time of 52.01. Sikes led FSC in the 200 fly with a time of 2:02.63 for 12
th overall, followed by the 200 back with
Zoë Celi, Emma Huma, and Lauren Helminiak all competing. The A team for FSC swam the 400 free relay, finishing in 3:28.36. Â

The Mocs will take a short break before the final home dual meet of the year on Dec. 12 against Indian River State College at 3 p.m. at the Nina B. Hollis Wellness Center Pool.
