LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women's tennis team opened the 2025 spring season with day one of competition in the FSC Invite on Saturday at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.

The Moccasins hosted St. Pete College and No. 7 Flagler College to open up the season competition. This was the third straight FSC Invite hosted by the women's team.

After a delay in the start due to the weather day one began with doubles competition with great showings by the Mocs. The dynamic duo of
Kelly Klaren and
Kennedi Brown who saw majority of the season in the top flight won their first doubles match with a 6-4 final over St. Pete College.
Ronja Scheuermann and
Emily Jennewein teamed for a tough competition but ultimately winning 7-6 (7).Â
Jolie Miller and
Elin Axler paired up to win their doubles match 6-3, as
Vivien Charvatova and
Annika Berrendorf won with a dominating 6-0 win against their St. Pete opponents.

In singles, Scheuermann, Axler,
Beatriz Costa, Berrendorf, Jennewein, Klaren, Brown, Miller, Charvatova, and
Olivia Bryant all had wins on the day.Â

Costa, Berrendorf, Jennewein, and Klaren all led the way with two individual wins a piece.Â

Costa dominated her St. Pete opponent 6-1, 6-0 before rallying with her Flagler opponent falling in the first set 4-6, before winning the next two 6-3, 14-12. Berrendorf faced two different St. Pete defeated both, 7-5, 6-4 against Suzuki, and later a 7-6 (8), 6-2 win against Moskaltsova.Â

Jennewein also faced two different St. Pete women, winning both in straight 6-0, 6-0 sets. Klaren too faced two St. Pete's opponents went 6-0, 6-2 against the first and 6-1, 6-1 in the final.Â

Bryant defeated Flagler's Jipescu first winning 6-0, before rallying to a 7-5 victory. In other individual wins, Scheuermann won over her SPC opponent (6-3, 6-3) and Axler followed with a 6-4, 6-0 final of her own.Â

Brown, Charvatova, and Miller all beat their St. Pete opponents with scores of 6-2, 3-6, 10-2 for Brown, 6-2, 6-1 for Charvatova, and a 6-1, 6-3 final for Miller.Â

The Mocs are scheduled to have another full day of tennis tomorrow, Feb. 2, beginning at 9:00 a.m. at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.Â
