OCALA, Fla. – The No. 24 Florida Southern College women's swimming team sits in fourth place overall after day three of the Sunshine State Conference Championships at the F.A.S.T. Center.
The Moccasins sit in fourth place with 201.5 points. Vanda Voroshazy stole the evening for the Mocs, setting a new program record in the 100 fly with a time of 55.28.
In prelims, Voroshazy had a fifth overall time in the 100 fly with 56.41 to make the A final. Elizabeth Sikes was 10th overall with 56.58 for a B final appearance. Zoë Celi (25th), Ana Sales (31st), and Kaitlyn Weitz (34th) also swam the 100 fly. For the 400 IM, Olivia Miles made the A final after eighth with 4:28.56 (B cut). Anya Bogdanova was 12th overall for a B final. In the 200 free, Ainsley L. Bennett was tied for 13th with 1:53.39 to join Sam Hunter (1:53.67) to make it to the B final. Phoebe Reid (23rd) and Emma Sammons (26th) also competed in the 200 free.
To open the evening finals, Voroshazy finished second in the 100 fly, setting a program record of 55.28. In the B final, Sikes finished 16th overall with a time of 57.07. Miles took part in the 400 IM, finishing sixth overall with 4:25.69 and Bogdanova in 13th with 4:30.69. For the 200 free, Hunter placed 13th with 1:52.22, followed by Bennett in 15th with 1:52.53.
The final event of the evening was the 400 medley relay in which a team of Celi, Alizee Pelletier, Voroshazy, and Hunter finished fourth with a time of 3:45.83. Bennett, Alexa Paredes, Sikes, and Sales finished 11th overall with a time of 3:51.50.
The Mocs will have day four tomorrow, Feb. 15 with events including the 500 free, 100 back, 100 breast, 200 fly, and 200 free relay.
