LAKELAND, Fla. – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) has announced the South Region Player of the Week as Florida Southern College's Ahmad Fitts.
 
South Region Player of the Week is Fitts' first career region award, just one day after being named the Sunshine State Conference Baseball Player of the Week. He is the sixth player in program history to earn the weekly region away and the first since Bryce Safferwich (OF) won it on April 5, 2023.
 
Fitts hit five home runs, drove in 12 runners, and scored seven times as Florida Southern went 4-0 last week. The graduate student from Valrico, Florida, began the week with a 3-for-4 performance at the plate in a 12-2 non-conference win over Eckerd, in which he had three home runs, including a grand slam. In FSC's three-game sweep of USC Beaufort, Fitts was 4-for-11 with six RBI, four runs scored, two home runs, and a double. Over the four games, he tallied two walks, one HBP, and two stolen bases in three attempts. Fitts finished the week with a .467 batting average, a .579 on-base percentage, and a 1.500 slugging percentage.
 
The No. 12 Mocs will have its first road trip of the season as they head to Melbourne this weekend to face Florida Tech for the conference opener, beginning on Friday, Feb. 21 at 6 p.m. FSC will have a doubleheader on Saturday, Feb. 22, with a 1 p.m. game one start.
