ORLANDO, Fla. – The No. 14 Florida Southern College men's tennis team won its neutral-site matchup against Bates College by a 7-0 score on Thursday afternoon at the USTA Campus.

The Moccasins (2-2, 1-0 SSC) had their second consecutive sweep, winning doubles and each singles court. The Bobcats (0-3) took one court to a third-set tiebreak but ultimately lost each court to lose 7-0.

In doubles, FSC swept each court, beginning with a 6-3 win by
Edoardo Melindo and
George Russell at the #2 court.
Hunter Nussbaum and
Ryan Rajakar won the third court by a 6-2 decision, the first appearance in the lineup for both players this season and the first career doubles win for Nussbaum.
Chris Fok Kow and
Mario Garoz won the #1 court by a 6-4 score

In singles, the match was highlighted by the first collegiate wins for
Onur Turgut and
Leon Bircanin, who won in two sets on the #5 and #6 courts, respectively. Turgut won 6-1, 6-1, and Bircanin 6-4, 6-3 over their opponents. No. 38 Garoz won 6-3, 6-2 and Russell 6-1, 6-3 in the #3 and 4 courts, followed by a win by Frizelle 6-2, 6-1 at #1. Fok Kow won his first set 6-2, before dropping the second set 4-6. In a tiebreak, Fok Kow won 1-0 (10-4) to complete the sweep.

The Mocs will hit the road to Daytona Beach, Fla. as they face No. 12 Embry-Riddle in a conference bout on Saturday, Feb. 22, set for a 1 p.m. start at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
