Box Score DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – The No. 14 Florida Southern College men's tennis team lost its first road conference matchup by a 5-2 score against No. 12 Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University on Saturday afternoon at the Crotty Tennis Complex.
The Moccasins (2-3, 1-2 SSC) lost doubles, making up some action in singles, but ultimately falling 5-2. The Eagles (4-1, 3-0 SSC) swept doubles and won all but two of the singles courts to stay undefeated in the conference.
In doubles,
Chris Fok Kow and
Mario Garoz lost the first court by a 6-3 score, as did
Sam Frizelle and
Ryan Rajakar at the #3 court. At #2,
George Russell and
Edoardo Melindo lost 6-4.
For singles, Florida Southern won two courts, beginning with Frizelle at #1 by a 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 score in three sets.
Bosko Boskovic won at the #6 court 6-3, 6-1 as the second court win of the match. After winning the second set, Garoz took his court to three sets but ultimately lost 5-7, 6-4, 4-6. Russell also went three sets, winning the first, but lost the next three sets.
Matthew Hewitt and Fok Kow each had time on the court but lost in two for the 5-2 match loss.
The Mocs will have a neutral site matchup against Davenport University on Monday, Feb. 24 with a 3 p.m. start at the USTA Campus in Orlando.
