MELBOURNE, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference has announced Florida Southern College's
Alex Steen as the Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week, his sixth weekly selection in the 2024-25 season and 10th career award.

Steen helped guide RV Florida Southern to a 1-1 week posting 45 points and 30 rebounds, 10 defensive, in 58 minutes of action while adding four blocks and five steals. In the 101-95 home loss against No. 2/1 Nova Southeastern, the junior posted 24 points and 14 rebounds in 32 minutes shooting 55.6% from the field (10-18) and 80% from the free throw line (4-5). He would add two blocks against the Sharks and four steals. In the Moccasins' 108-83 home win against Saint Leo, Steen would add his 12th double-double of the season with a 21-point-16-rebound performance in 16 minutes of action. He added two more blocks on the week and one more steal.Â

The Panama City Beach, Fla. was one of two Mocs named to the 2025 Bevo Francis Top 50 Watch List this past week as the native has excelled this season as one of the nation's leaders in several categories. Third in DII for blocks (76) and blocks per game (2.71), Steen's dominance extends to the offensive side, ranked in the top 10 of double-doubles (10th), and field goals (9
th).
