LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College women's tennis team hosted Michigan Tech for a Tuesday match defeating the Huskies 4-0 to earn the first win of the season.
The Moccasins (1-2) earned the early point in the doubles action as number two and three doubles swept before the top doubles pair could finish. In the #2 doubles pair,
Annika Berrendorf and
Jolie Miller earned the win 6-1, followed by Viven Charvatova and
Elin Axler with another 6-1 win in the #3 court.
In singles action,
Emily Jennewein collected the first win to put the Mocs up 2-0 over the Huskies with a 6-0, 6-3 straight sets win.
Olivia Bryant followed in the top court defeating her opponent 6-3, 6-0 to go up 3-0.
Securing the final point for FSC, was Berrendorf winning by two in the first set, 6-4 before dominating set two 6-1 to five the Mocs a 4-0 win in the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
Florida Southern returns to action tomorrow, Feb. 26 as they host the University of Charleston. The first serve is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. with an honoring of Morgan's Message prior.
