Â
Tanner Rollyson had another start in 2025 and went three innings, allowing seven hits but only one earned run. He was relieved by
Jack Owens who made his Moccasin debut with 0.2 innings pitched.
Aidan Kelley took over for the next 3.1 innings to register the win, his first of 2025, after allowing just one hit and one earned run with four strikeouts.
Austen Kessler and
Colby Rice each went one inning, Rice earning his third save of the season, the second of the series.
Â
Georgia Southwestern had a productive day in the hit category, finishing with 13 with six left on. Cory Lee had three hits, followed by four Canes players with two hits each. Brant Deerman had the sole extra-base hit with a double. Jackson Raper had the start and went 3.1 innings with seven hits and six earned runs. He was relieved by Braeden Cochran, who got his first loss of 2025 (2-1 record), after giving up three runs on a tie game.
Â
The Hurricanes were first to score with an RBI groundout by Paul Hegeman in the first inning. The Moccasins responded quickly with two runs in the bottom half of the first off an RBI single by Thoroman and an RBI triple by Duffy. Neither team scored in the second but traded scores in the third and fourth inning before FSC emerged in the fifth ahead 7-6. The bottom third included Duffy's two-run homer, and he followed with an RBI double in his next at-bat.
Â
Duffy completed the cycle in the bottom of the sixth inning after a single to center field with two outs. He eventually scored that inning, part of a two-RBI single by Riley to extend the Mocs' lead to three. Scott then had an RBI single in the bottom seventh to make it a 10-6 game. A wild pitch in the eighth led to a GSW run, but Rice entered in the top of the ninth, striking out two to secure a 10-7 win and series sweep.
Â
The Mocs will remain at home for a midweek matchup against Eckerd College on Tuesday, Feb. 11, with a 6 p.m. start at Henley Field. Florida Southern will then have Champions Weekend Feb. 14-16 during the USC Beaufort series honoring the 1975, 1985, 1995, and 2005 NCAA National Championship teams.
