It was not until the fourth inning when the Mocs and Bucs saw action on the bases as Morris and Valencia led off with back-to-back singles to get runners in scoring position and put the first two hits on the board. The next three batters were sent back in order as Barry looked to put the first run on the board.

In the top of the seventh, Florida Southern knew they had to get runs on the board as Bushnell hit a one out double down the left line to get into scoring position early. Nolte came in to pinch hit, singling to center field to bring in Bushnell and make it 2-1.
Gabby Young doubled to move the runner to third, and the Mocs tied it on a sacrifice fly from Morris to make it 2-2.
The Mocs defense held the Bucs in the bottom of the seventh as they headed into extras. In the bottom of the eighth, Barry led off with a walk and then back-to-back singles loaded the bases as Florida Southern looked to get the final out, but an RBI walk scored the final run for Barry as they took game one 3-2 in eight innings of play.
