LAKELAND, Fla - The Florida Southern College women's tennis team earned a 7-0 win over Bucknell University on Tuesday afternoon to continue a busy week of tennis at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
In doubles action, the Moccasins (7-2) earned the early point with two doubles pairs wins as both the #2 pair of
Ronja Scheuermann and
Emily Jennewein and #3 pair
Annika Berrendorf and
Jolie Miller defeated the Bisons (4-6) 6-3 wins. The #1 doubles of
Kennedi Brown and
Kelly Klaren rallied with Bucknell's #3 doubles falling 6-3.
In singles action,
Olivia Bryant earned the first win for FSC at the top singles spot, dominating her opponent 6-1, 6-0. Jennewein followed to make it 3-0 in favor of the Mocs, winning 6-3, 6-1. To clinch the 4-0 win, Scheuermann was at the #3 court, winning 6-1, 7-5.
Florida Southern continued play, winning the remaining matches with a 6-4, 6-1 win at court #4 for Berrendorf, followed by
Beatriz Costa winning in a tiebreaker, 6-2, 3-6, 1-0 (12-10). Mocs secured the final win with a 6-4, 6-0 win on court six as Klaren earned the 6-4, 7-6 (1) win.
Florida Southern returns to action on Thursday, March 13, when it hosts Thomas Jefferson University. The first serve is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
