LAKELAND, Fla. – The No. 14 Florida Southern College men's tennis team suffered a 4-3 loss to Grand Valley State University on Tuesday afternoon at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.

The Moccasins (4-4, 1-2 SSC) had three singles court wins but lost doubles in the 4-3 loss. The Lakers (7-2) held off FSC in singles competition to clinch the match 4-3.

In doubles,
Chris Fok Kow and
Mario Garoz lost to the No. 14 pairing of Lucas Gonazles and Victor Lopes 6-4. At the #2 court,
Bosko Boskovic and
Matthew Hewitt lost 6-1 to secure the point to GVSU. At court #3,
George Russell and
Sam Frizelle won 6-4, the only doubles court win for FSC.

For singles, No. 38 Garoz was first on the board with a 6-2, 6-3 win at the #3 court. Frizelle lost 6-3, 6-3 to No. 49 Denys Zamaraiev, followed by a two-set loss by Russell at the #4 court. GVSU clinched the match with a win over Boskovic at the #6 court in three sets, though FSC added court wins by Fok Kow and Hewitt, each in three sets, for the 4-3 score.

The Mocs will host St. Mary's University on Sunday, March 9, set for a 12 p.m. start at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center.
