Box Score ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - The No.33 Florida Southern College women's tennis team traveled to take on Eckerd College at the Perper Fred Bullard Courts in Sunshine State Conference action, winning 6-1 on Thursday afternoon.
The Moccasins (12-3, 3-2 SSC) earned the early point in doubles play against the Tritons (8-8, 0-6 SSC) sweeping all doubles matches. The top doubles spot of
Kelly Klaren and
Kennedi Brown and the No.2 doubles pair of
Emily Jennewein and
Ronja Scheuermann both won 6-4. The third doubles duo,
Annika Berrendorf and
Jolie Miller captured the first win, defeating their Eckerd opponent 6-1.
No. 33
Olivia Bryant won at the top court, being the only court to force three sets winning the first one 6-0, falling 6-2 in set two but dominating the final set 6-1. The No.2 court with Scheuermann's first set went to a tiebreaker but the German native won the court 7-6 (7-2), 6-1.
Berrendorf had a close first set at the third court, winning 7-5, before defeating the Tritons 6-2. Jennewein and
Vivien Charvatova earned the final two wins, as Jennewein won 6-4, 6-1 at the fourth court followed by Charvatova winning the final court 6-1, 6-0.
Florida Southern returns to action on Saturday, April 5, hosting another SSC opponent when #5 Barry University comes to Lakeland. The first serve is scheduled for 11:00 a.m.
