LAKELAND, Fla. – Three home runs by the No. 10 Florida Southern College baseball team led to a 5-4 victory against the University of West Alabama on the opening day of the 2025 NCAA South Region Tournament at Henley Field.

The Moccasins (37-13-1) scored all their runs on home runs, with great pitching in the final innings to secure the game-one victory. The Tigers (32-24) also had two home runs but could not score in the final innings as FSC won to secure the day two evening game.

Florida Southern outhit West Alabama 10-to-9 in the game, with four Mocs with multi-hit outings.
Noah Rabin led the team, batting 3-of-4, including a two-run homer.
Mikey Scott hit the other multi-run homer of the game, with a solo homer by
Wyatt Campbell to wrap up the FSC scoring. Campbell finished with two hits alongside Scott, and
Grant Thoroman.
Rohsean Riley had a solo hit for the team's 10 hits tonight.

Sachem Ramos made his 16
th start of the season, going seven innings, giving up eight hits and four runs scored. He had no walks and no HBP with five total strikeouts in his 29 batters faced. Ramos entered in the top of the eighth to get credit for the win, his 11
th of the season, relieved by
Casey O'Dell, who earned his third save. O'Dell allowed just one hit, no runs, and no walks, with four strikeouts in his seven batters faced, the third consecutive no-run appearance. Â

West Alabama finished with nine hits as a team, led by Tanner Jones with two hits. All but one in the starting lineup tallied a hit, including four extra-base hits. Joe Watkins and Bryce Newman had home runs in the game, with Eli Burwash and Jones securing doubles. Maxwell Schumacher had the start, going 6.1 innings with seven hits and four runs earned. He was relieved by Gates Pee, who was handed the loss on the fifth FSC run of the game.

The game opened in favor of the Tigers with a leadoff home run by Watkins. The Moccasins responded with a solo homer of their own by way of Campbell in the second inning to tie the game. UWA took the lead back with another solo homer in the third before FSC scored on a two-run homer by Rabin, 3-2. The back-and-forth game continued in the fourth as West Alabama tied the game on an RBI single, later taking a 4-3 lead in the seventh on a sac fly. FSC answered with a two-run shot to take a 5-4 lead, later the final after O'Dell struck out four in the final two innings of the game.

The Mocs will face the winner of the first game in the NCAA DII South Regional, the University of West Florida, tomorrow, May 16, with a 6 p.m. start at Henley Field. West Alabama will face Delta State in the 2 p.m. game.
