Six Mocs Named WGCA All-American Scholars

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – The Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) announced Monday (June 30) that 1,499 women's collegiate golfers from 403 programs were recognized as All-American Scholars. Florida Southern saw six student-athletes earn the prestigious honor in McKinley Holding, Ava La Belle, Clare Gimpel, Kaley Amuso, Taylor Zachary, and Ashleigh Angelo.

The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics and continue to demonstrate the high-level academic achievements of our players. To be selected, a student-athlete must:
         • Have an overall cumulative grade point average of 3.50 or higher.
         • Be an amateur and on the team's roster through the conclusion of the team's season.
         • Have played in 50% of the college's regularly scheduled competitive rounds during the year nominated through the team's conference championship.

Gimpel, Angelo, Zachary, and La Belle repeat as WGCA All-American Scholars from the 2023-24 season, while Amuso and Holding both earn the bid in their first year as a Moccasin.

The six student-athletes helped guide Florida Southern to a fifth-place finish at the Sunshine State Conference Championship as well as a trip to the NCAA postseason, the first time for the team to appear since the 2020-21 season. Florida Southern finished as the 27th-ranked team in the nation and posted a 47-72-3 head-to-head record throughout 12 total events.

Clare Gimpel finished as the highest-ranking Moc as an individual, finishing the 2024-25 campaign as the 77th-ranked player, posting a 502-213-27 record with a 74.4 adjusted stroke average. In total, 1,027 golfers in women's division II were ranked with all six honorees for Florida Southern finishing in the top 282; McKinley Holding No. 103 nationally (409-307-26 / 75.1 avg), Ava La Belle No. 148 (335-383-24 / 75.8 avg), Kaley Amuso No. 213 (281-438-23 / 76.3 avg), Ashleigh Angelo No. 229 (152-221-9 / 76.6 avg), Taylor Zachary No. 282 (226-495-13 / 77.4 avg).
