NEW ORLEANS - Both the Florida Southern College men's and women's track teams earned All-Academic Team honors from the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), the association announced. Both programs were among the top of their respective lists as the men posted the highest GPA among all NCAA Division II men's programs while the women finished tied for 30
th on the women's list.
In order to receive All-Academic Team distinction, the program's cumulative GPA for all student-athletes on the institution's NCAA Squad List for Indoor and/or Outdoor Track and Field must be 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale, certifiable by the institution's registrar.
The Florida Southern men posted an impressive 3.624 GPA to finish first on the list of NCAA Division II programs which achieved a 3.0 GPA or higher. Ouachita Baptist (3.57 GPA) and St. Edwards (3.55 GPA) rounded out the top three programs on the men's side. Embry-Riddle, Flagler, Lynn and Tampa were the only other Florida programs to join the Moccasins on the list.
The Florida Southern women came in with an equally impressive 3.58 GPA to place 30
th among the DII women's programs who achieved over a 3.00 GPA. Illinois at Springfield (3.867 GPA) led the way on the women's side while Ouachita Baptist (3.76 GPA) and California State, Monterey Bay (3.74) round out the top three. Embry-Riddle, Flagler, Lynn, and Tampa were the only other Florida programs on the list.
