ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Florida Southern College men's track team opened the 2025-26 Indoor Track season Friday night as the Mocs competed in both the 3,000m ad 5,000m events at the Grand Valley State University Holiday Open in Allendale, Mich. Seniors
Anthony Matthew and
Christian Giller led the way as Matthew broke the FSC program record by four seconds while Giller nearly reached his own school record while posting an NCAA Provisional Qualifying Time in the 5,000m.

TOP PERFORMERS
- Senior Anthony Matthew led a trio of Moccasins in the opening heat of the 3,000m. Matthew placed fifth in the heat while crossing the finish in 8:19.57, breaking the program record of 8:23.60 previously held by classmate Chris Colavita. Sophomore Andrew Nyland and senior Simon DeVoss finished back-to-back in 16th and 17th. Nyland posted a personal best time of 8:48.48 while DeVoss clocked in at 9:17.26.
- Another trio of Moccasins competed in the second heat of the 5,000m with Colavita leading the way. The senior crossed the line in 14:42.81 to take fourth in the heat. Following the race, the time ranked seventh in the FSC Record Book before moving to eighth following Giller's near record-breaking performance later in the night. Sophomore Eli Zuppa was next to cross the line as he finished three spots back in seventh while stopping the clock at 14:49.73. Zuppa's mark was good for 10th in the record book but moved into 11th following Giller's performance. Junior Cole Summers rounded out the Mocs in the heat as he placed 12th while posting a personal best time of 14:57.33.
- Giller took to the track in the top heat of the 5,000m. He placed fifth overall while posting the second-best time in program history at 14:13.70. The time also serves as an NCAA Provisional Qualifying Mark. Â Â
- Freshman Parker Graham was the final Moccasin on the track as he competed in the third heat of the 5,000m. He placed 19th overall while completing the distance in 15:34.23.

The Moccasins will be back in action Thursday, Jan. 15 to compete at the Jimmy Carnes Invitational.
