AUSTIN, Texas – The College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced the 2024-25 Academic All-America Women's At-Large teams, where Florida Southern College's
Maria Reeves was named to the Third Team.
Maria Reeves, a two-time First Team All-American in 2025 by IWLCA and USA Lacrosse, was named an Academic All-American for the first time in her career. Reeves paced the Mocs in draw controls with a Florida Southern program and Sunshine State Conference single-season record of 193 draw controls in 21 games. She added four goals on seven shots on the season for four total points. Following the conclusion of the season, she was named to the IWLCA All-Star game earning MVP with 18 draw controls and one assist. During her senior campaign, Reeves set the FSC single-game draw record with 21 draw controls against Florida Tech in the regular-season finale. She closed her career with 367 draw controls, which was the second most in program history and the third most in Sunshine State Conference history.
The Everett, Wash. native becomes the sixth women's lacrosse player in program history to earn the honor, joining the likes of
Jackie Stoller (2024, 2nd), Hailey Daleo (2023, 3rd), Patricia Werker (2022, 3rd), Julia Couch (2020, 1st), and Katie Hammerer (2014, 1st).
Reeves was one of 18 lacrosse student-athletes over the three teams and one of seven Sunshine State Conference student-athletes to be named Academic All-Americans. In total, the Division II at-large teams honored 45 student-athletes with eight members of the first team holding perfect 4.00 GPAs. A total of 16 of the 45 members have 4.00 GPAs either as undergraduate or a graduate student. The 15-member first team has a 3.93 cumulative GPA.
The Division II Academic All-America® program is being financially supported by the NCAA Division II national governance structure to assist CSC with handling the awards fulfillment aspects for the 2024-25 Division II Academic All-America® program.
