ALBANY, Ga. — Florida Southern College secured first place at the Hurricane Invitational with a team score of 858, highlighted by freshmen Jack VanderSchuur's tie for second at 212 (-4) and Anthony Monteleone's tie for tenth with a final round of 68 (-4).
Florida Southern secured the top spot at the Hurricane Invitational, finishing with a total score of 858. The team showed consistent improvement throughout the tournament, starting with a 289 in Round 1, followed by a 287 in Round 2, and culminating in an impressive 282 in Round 3. VanderSchuur led the team with a tie for second place overall, posting a final score of 212, including an outstanding first round of 69. The freshman recorded his first career eagle today on hole 13. Monteleone also made a significant contribution, finishing tied for 10th place with an even-par 216, highlighted by the Mocs' lowest single-round score of 68 in the final round. He carded five birdies and 13 pars on the day.
Max Barile and Colton Swartz also performed well, finishing tied for 16th and 20th, respectively. Barile completed the tournament with a score of 219, maintaining steady play with rounds of 74, 73, and 72. Swartz began strong with a 71 and followed with a 72 before a challenging final round of 77. Corey Edgar rounded out the Mocs lineup, tying for 25th with a total score of 221, making a remarkable recovery from an opening round of 80 to shoot 71 and 70 in the subsequent rounds. Edgar shot a career-low 70 with six birdies on the day.
