Darcy Moffat continued his strong start to the season, scoring his third goal of the year and the 12th of his career at Florida Southern, while
Hector Oliver made his mark with his first goal in a Moccasin uniform, converting a penalty kick.
The first half began with a strong defensive effort from FSC, as Dettmer made crucial saves in the 10th and 28th minutes to deny Georgia Southwestern's attempts on goal. Despite an early challenge, the Mocs found themselves down after a penalty kick by Cesar Rubio-Amaya put the Hurricanes ahead at the 14:52 mark. However, Florida Southern quickly responded, leveling the score with Oliver's penalty kick goal in the 20th minute. The team maintained solid defensive pressure throughout the remainder of the half, with Dettmer continuing his consistent performance. As the half closed, the score remained tied at 1-1.
The second half saw a crucial momentum shift for Florida Southern in the 66th minute when Moffat scored with an assist from
Tim Baierlein, putting the team ahead 2-1. Despite efforts to maintain the lead, Georgia Southwestern responded in the 84th minute with a goal by Jonathan Bedard, assisted by Daniel Romero-Ramos, leveling the score at 2-2. Florida Southern managed to withstand pressure from Georgia Southwestern, who had multiple corner opportunities following Bedard's goal. The half ended with the teams locked at 2-2, as Florida Southern's defense held firm in the closing minutes.
Dettmer recorded five saves, facing 15 shots during the match. Moffat scored one goal with his only shot on target. Baierlein contributed an assist, adding to his season tally. Oliver also found the back of the net, converting one of his shots into a goal.
Cesar Rubio-Amaya scored one of the team's goals, contributing to Georgia Southwestern's offensive efforts with two shots on goal, both of which were on target.
