LAKELAND, Fla. – The Florida Southern College Department of Athletics welcomes
Anthony Nguyen as an assistant athletic trainer, announced head athletic trainer

Nguyen joins FSC after spending the last year and a half as a certified athletic trainer with AdventHealth at the United States Tennis Association National Campus in Orlando, Fla. He provided individualized care and rehabilitation for elite-level tennis, pickleball and padel athletes. Prior to joining the USTA, he spent early 2024 as the head athletic trainer at Land O' Lakes High School while working with PT Solutions Physical Therapy.

"I'm grateful for the opportunity to join Florida Southern College and look forward to contributing to the department's continued success," said Nguyen on his new role. "I want to thank Reg and Florida Southern College for the opportunity and am excited to be here."

Nguyen served as an athletic trainer at the University of South Florida for the Recreation and Wellness Department for nearly two years. He oversaw injury management and rehabilitation services for the over 50 clubs at USF including ice hockey, rugby, soccer and lacrosse among others. He also served as an Adjunct Professor at USF during this time as well.

Prior to heading South, Nguyen spent two years as the Head Athletic Trainer at Belpre High School in Belpre, Ohio. He helped create a consistent and safe athletic healthcare program from the ground up to deal with the CoVID-19 pandemic. He also spent one preseason with the Ohio University Ice Hockey team as he oversaw the athletic training needs throughout the 2020 preseason.

While a student at the University of Utah, Nguyen spent nearly a year with the University of Utah Ice Hockey team as a athletic training student as he worked with the Certified Athletic Trainer to help with injury care, rehabilitation and sideline evaluations.Â

Nguyen holds a Bachelor of Science in athletic training from the University of Utah. He earned a Master of Science in athletic training at Ohio University and is currently pursuing his Doctor of Athletic Training at Florida International University with an expected graduation date in 2026. He is a Board Certified Athletic Trainer and holds certifications through the American Heart Association, as well as in Athletic Dry Needling and Spinal Manipulation, Intravenous Therapy, and multiple ISSA specializations, including Corrective Exercise Specialist, Performance Enhancement Specialist, Nutrition, and Exercise Recovery.

He is a member of National Athletic Trainers' Association, Southeast Athletic Trainers' Association, The Athletic Trainers' Association of Florida and Iota Tau Alpha.
