SAINT LEO, Fla. - The No. 3/4 Florida Southern men's golf team stands tied for first on the first day of the Saint Leo Invitational at the Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club in Saint Leo, Fla. Round two was suspended as the Mocs finished 15-17 holes of the round. Currently, the Mocs sit at 21-under, with Max Barile tied for the field lead at 9-under.
Teams will resume round two tomorrow before the final round of the tournament.
Barile leads the field after day one, tied with USF's Nino Palmquist and Lynn's Andres Asin, shooting 9-under. The senior carded 11 birdies on the day, with six so far in round two.
Donte Groppuso trails closely behind, shooting 8-under on the day. The graduate student tied his career-low single-round score of 66 in the first round. He also has 11 birdies on the day.
Anthony Monteleone, Colton Swartz, and Chris Pollak (Individual) all sit tied-24th after day one. Monteleone and Swartz both shot 68 in the first round, while Pollak shot 71. They all sit at 2-under.
Jaylen Abbas rounds the Moccasin lineup tied-44th. He sits 1-over with a first-round score of 71.
The Moccasins are tied for the field lead with Lynn, as both teams currently stand 21-under. Max Barile (Florida Southern), Nino Palmquist (USF), and Andres Asin (Lynn) are tied-first, all currently 9-under.
