WINTER PARK, Fla. — No. 10 Florida Southern College men's tennis (3-2) fell to (RV) Rollins College (1-0) 5-2 on Thursday afternoon in a road Sunshine State Conference matchup. The Mocs secured singles victories at the No. 2 and No. 5 positions.
Rollins captured the doubles point with a sweep, starting with a 6-1 victory at No. 3 doubles by Nico de Giacomo and Lawson Prather over Florida Southern's
Mario Garoz and
Edoardo Melindo. The Tars secured the point with a 6-2 win at No. 1 doubles, as Richard Stoiberer and Pete Tran defeated
George Russell and
Onur Turgut. The doubles field was completed with Mo Anterist and Fabian Gusic's 6-4 victory at No. 2 doubles over
Bosko Boskovic and
Gabriel Jornert.
In singles, Rollins extended its lead as Mo Anterist defeated
Marco Cinotti 6-3, 6-1 at No. 4 singles. Lawson Prather added another point for the Tars with a 6-2, 7-5 win against Garoz at No. 1 singles. FSC responded with a win at No. 2 singles, where
Matthew Hewitt earned a three-set victory over Richard Stoiberer, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4.
Rollins clinched the match when Pete Tran won 6-4, 6-4 against
Mario Antonio Morales at No. 6 singles. The Mocs' Boskovic added a point with a comeback victory at No. 5 singles, defeating Pietro Cappellaro 2-6, 6-1, 6-2. The final match saw Nico de Giacomo secure a win for the Tars with a 2-6, 6-3, 1-0(10-7) result over Turgut at No. 3 singles.
