LAKELAND, Fla. – Florida Southern women's tennis student-athlete Ronja Scheuermann has been named the Sunshine State Conference Athlete of the Week, earning the first weekly honor of the 2026 season for the Mocs. The recognition marks Scheuermann's first career Athlete of the Week award and the first for the Florida Southern women's tennis program since 2021.
Scheuermann opened the spring campaign with a perfect 4-0 record at the FSC Invite, leading Florida Southern in both singles and doubles competition. In singles play, she posted a 2-0 mark, beginning with a straight-set victory over University of North Carolina Wilmington's Alicia Eberwein, 4-1, 4-3. She followed with a clutch three-set win against St. Petersburg College's Daniela Vivas Valencia, rallying for a 3-4, 4-2, 10-7 triumph to remain undefeated on the weekend.
In doubles action, Scheuermann teamed with Emily Jennewein to secure two decisive victories. The pair earned a 6-2 win on day one and repeated that result with another 6-2 victory on day two against UNCW, finishing the weekend 2-0 as a tandem.
Scheuermann's unbeaten performance across both singles and doubles play helped set the tone for Florida Southern's 2026 spring season and secured a milestone conference honor for both herself and the program.
