BOULDER CITY, Nev. - In a stacked field of 20 teams, the No. 4 Florida Southern men's golf team opened the Las Vegas Desert Classic in first after the first round of play at the Boulder Creek Golf Course in Boulder City, Nev. 

Max Barile currently leads the Mocs, finishing round one in second place overall. He shot a 4-under 68 in the opening round, carding four birdies and an eagle on hole 13. He had a strong start and a strong finish, with back-to-back birdies on holes one and two, and finished with a birdie on 18. 

Anthony Monteleone closed the opening round in the top-10 tied-seventh with a 1-under 71. He carded three birdies with two on the front nine. 

Donte Groppuso finished the first round with a 2-over 74, standing tied-31st with two birdies and 12 pars. 

Tyler Mistretta and Colton Swartz round out the Moccasin lineup, standing tied-56th and tied-94th, respectively. Mistretta shot a 4-over 76, while Swartz shot a 7-over 79. 

The Moccasins lead the field with a first-round score of one-over 289. Luis Palomo (West Texas A&M) is the individual leader with a first-round score of 67 (5-under), one stroke ahead of Barile, who sits in the sole place of second.
