LAKELAND, Fla. – Senior
Jacob Czyz of the Florida Southern College men's lacrosse team was named to the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) Division II Team of the Week for his performances versus Adams State and No. 11 Colorado Mesa this past week. This marks the third career Team of the Week honor for Czyz and the first honor this season for the Mocs. Czyz is the first Moccasin to achieve three Team of the Week honors in a career as he moves ahead of two-time honorees
Jeff Atlas (2019-22),
Lucas Claude (2015-18), and
Nick Shannon (2020-24).
Czyz had another outstanding week at the faceoff for Florida Southern. He began the week winning 23-of-24 (.958) faceoffs and scoring a goal versus Adams State as the Moccasins won 20-7. He also set a new program record with 19 groundballs in the contest. He then won 19-of-22 (.864) versus No. 11 Colorado Mesa as the Moccasins nearly upset the Mavericks in overtime. He scooped up 18 groundballs in the loss which is tied for second all-time at FSC in a single game. He also scored a goal versus CMU to help the offensive effort. For the week, he went 42-of-46 (.913) with 37 groundballs (18.5 gb/g). He currently leads all of NCAA Division II with 12.86 groundballs per game and is sixth in face off winning percentage (.711).

Czyz was joined on the Team of the Week by Malikye Good (Lewis/Attack), Matt Lemay (St. Anselm/Attack), Dominic Giacona (Tiffin/Defense), Kyle Spence (Wingate/Attack), Joe Janda (Lewis/LSM), Radyn Badraun (Anderson/Midfield), Owen Wills (Saint Leo/Defense), Thomas Strong (Florida Tech/Midfield) and Christian Tomei (Maryville/Goalkeeper).
Czyz and the rest of the Moccasins will be back in action on Saturday, March 21 at 8 p.m. as they travel to No. 4 Tampa for the opening Sunshine State Conference game of the season.
