ORLANDO, Fla. - The Sunshine State Conference Players of the Week have been announced with Florida Southern College's Mikey Scott named Baseball Player of the Week and Amare Miller Defensive Player of the Week. This is the second weekly award for Scott in his career, and the fourth award for Miller in his career.

Scott had a major impact in the series sweep over Florida Tech this past weekend. The star outfielder batted .538 with seven RBI in the series to help FSC to a 3-0 week. The graduate student from Cutler Bay, Fla., had a breakout performance in the series finale against the Panthers, smashing two homers, including the game-tying grand slam in the final frame. The Mocs went on to win that game in a 12-11 walk-off. In the series opener, Scott had an RBI double and had the game-winning run for a Friday night walk-off by a 4-3 score. The first game of the FSC-FT doubleheader had another big game by Scott, batting 3-4, a walk, three runs scored, and two stolen bases to win 11-3.

Miller was a force for the Moccasins this week, with a strong defensive presence. The Mocs went 1-1 on the week with a victory over Barry and a loss to #1 Nova Southeastern. Miller posted back-to-back double-doubles, increasing his streak to five and his season total to 13. In the Mocs 84-82 victory over Barry, Miller scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds. He added three steals, a block, and an assist to pace the Mocs to victory. In their loss to top-ranked Nova Southeastern, Miller grabbed a career-high 20 rebounds, adding 14 points, 1 block, and an assist. He averaged 15.5 rebounds per game on the week, and 11.0 defensive rebounds per game.
