#8 Florida Southern Dominates Palm Beach Atlantic 7-0

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. — No. 8 Florida Southern College women's tennis (12-3) decisively defeated Palm Beach Atlantic University (2-11) 7-0 on Saturday at the Mitch Gornto Tennis Center. The Moccasins swept all six singles matches and secured the doubles point with victories at all three positions.

Florida Southern secured the doubles point decisively with a series of commanding performances. Emily Jennewein and Ronja Scheuermann started the run with a 6-0 victory at No. 2 doubles over Elisa Buhagiar and Valeria Lopez. Annika Berrendorf and Jolie Miller followed suit at No. 3 doubles, defeating Daniela Ortiz and Sunshine Tarpey, 6-0. Closing out the doubles sweep, Kennedi Brown and Josie Holderbach won by default at No. 1 doubles against Virginia Borja and Alina Hoermann.

In singles action, Florida Southern maintained its momentum with Elin Axler opening the singles matches with a 6-3, 6-1 win over Sunshine Tarpey at No. 6 singles. Miller extended the lead further at No. 5 singles, dispatching Daniela Ortiz 6-1, 6-1. No. 48 Jennewein clinched the dual match at No. 3 singles with her 6-4, 6-2 victory over Lopez, securing an unassailable 4-0 overall score.

The winning streak continued as Scheuermann triumphed at No. 2 singles, besting Borja 6-3, 6-4.No. 23 Holderbach added another point with a 6-4, 6-1 result against Hoermann at No. 1 singles. Berrendorf concluded the sweep with a 6-3, 7-5 win over Buhagiar at No. 4 singles, finalizing the Moccasins' 7-0 victory over the Sailfish.

The next challenge for Florida Southern is a matchup against the University of Tampa on Tuesday, March 31 at 6 p.m. at the Naimoli Family Athletic and Intramural Complex in Tampa, Florida.
