LAKELAND, Fla. — Florida Southern College men's tennis (6-3) secured a 4-2 upset win over No. 8 Washburn University (5-4) on Thursday at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center. Florida Southern secured the doubles point with victories at the No. 2 and No. 3 positions and clinched the match with singles wins at the No. 1, No. 2, and No. 6 spots.

Bosko Boskovic and
Gabriel Jornert earned a 6-3 win over Yuto Miyagawa and Yoshinobu Nakatsuji on court two, while
Mario Garoz and
Edoardo Melindo followed with a 6-3 decision against Benjamin Fock and Pavlos Parson on court three. The match on court one between
George Russell and
Onur Turgut and #42 Tommy Cecchetti and Kilian Martinez was left unfinished with a score of 5-4.
In singles, #15 Garoz gave the Moccasins an early lead with a straight-sets victory over #31 Cecchetti at No. 1 singles, posting a 6-2, 6-3 result.
Mario Antonio Morales extended the lead at No. 6 singles, defeating Fock 7-5, 6-3. The Ichabods fought back as #33 Miyagawa defeated #53 Boskovic at No. 5 singles, 6-3, 6-3, and #23 Martinez secured a win over Turgut, 7-5, 6-0, at No. 3 singles.
Florida Southern clinched the match with
Matthew Hewitt's three-set triumph over #11 Parson at No. 2 singles, with scores of 6-4, 3-6, 6-2. The match at No. 4 singles between
Marco Cinotti and Zino Nahirniak remained unfinished, with Cinotti trailing 5-7, 6-4, 1-2.
