LAKELAND, Fla. — No. 11 Florida Southern College men's tennis (15-4) secured a decisive 6-1 victory over No. 26 Lincoln Memorial University (12-6) on Thursday at the Wynee Warden Tennis Center. Prior to the match, the Moccasins honored five seniors on the team:
Mario Garoz,
Mario Antonio Morales,
Gabriel Jornert,
Edoardo Melindo, and
George Russell.
Florida Southern secured the doubles point decisively by winning all three matches.
Bosko Boskovic and
Gabriel Jornert set the tone with a 6-3 victory over Hugo Ruiz Espejo and Sebastian Aranzeta at No. 2 doubles, followed by
George Russell and
Onur Turgut, the No. 18 ranked pair, claiming a 6-3 win against Alexan Rares Giurea and Mathis Amsellem at No. 1 doubles. The No. 36 ranked duo of
Mario Garoz and
Edoardo Melindo completed the sweep with a 6-4 win over Victor Bourguignon and Radu Florea at No. 3 doubles.
In singles action, the Mocs extended their lead with a straight-set win at No. 1 singles, where No. 7 Garoz defeated Alexan Rares Giurea 6-1, 6-3.
Matthew Hewitt followed at No. 2 singles with a 6-1, 6-4 victory over Mathis Amsellem, increasing the score to 3-0. Turgut clinched the match for Florida Southern with a 6-1, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles against Kai Miyatake.

Marco Cinotti triumphed in a three-set battle at No. 4 singles, overcoming Radu Florea 4-6, 6-3, 1-0 (10-8). Despite a setback at No. 5 singles, where Victor Bourguignon defeated Russell 6-2, 3-6, 6-3,
Mario Antonio Morales secured the final point for Florida Southern at No. 6 singles, defeating Sebastian Aranzeta 6-0, 6-2. The final dual score was Florida Southern College 6, LMU 1.
