DADE CITY, Fla. - The No. 3 Florida Southern men's golf team opened the Sunshine State Conference Championship in first place with a 4-under score of 572 through the first two rounds of play. The Mocs hold an 11-stroke lead heading into the final round of the championship at the Lake Jovita Golf & Country Club.
Colton Swartz currently sits in the individual lead, shooting a 5-under 139 through the opening two rounds. Swartz opened the day with a 1-under 71 in round one. The junior carded three birdies and 14 pars in the round. In the second round, Swartz carded five birdies and an eagle on nine. He finished the round with a 4-under 68. Swartz also currently leads the field on Par 5s, with a 6-under average of 4.25 strokes.
Max Barile trailed closely behind Swartz, finishing the day with a 1-under 143, sitting in 5th place. Barile started off with a 2-under 70, tallying four birdies in the round. In round two, Barile shot 1-over, with four birdies. He leads the field in stroke average on Par 4s, with a -4 average of 3.80.
Anthony Monteleone also sits in the top-10, one stroke off Barile at tied-sixth. The freshman shot even through the two rounds. He carded an eagle in each of the two rounds, shooting 1-under to open, and 1-over in round two.
Tyler Mistretta and Donte Groppuso finished tied-16th and tied-38th, respectively. Mistretta finished the day with a 3-over 147, while Groppuso finished with an 11-over 155. Mistretta carded seven birdies on the day and Groppuso carded six birdies in round one.
