FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — No. 8 Florida Southern College (17-4) defeated No. 16 Rollins College (13-8) 4-1 on Friday at the Rolling Hills Tennis Complex to open the Sunshine State Conference Championships and advance to the quarterfinals. The Moccasins secured the doubles point and added three singles victories to clinch the match.

Diana Volkov added another point with a commanding 6-1, 6-1 victory over Eckstein at No. 6 singles, bringing the score to 3-0. The Tars responded at No. 2 singles as No.36 Can edged Scheuermann, 7-6(3), 6-4.
Miller clinched the match for the Moccasins at No. 5 singles, defeating Abdulloeva, 6-4, 7-5, sealing the dual match with a 4-1 score. The matches at No. 1 and No. 4 singles, featuring No.14 Holderbach and Berrendorf, respectively, were left unfinished.
Florida Southern advances to the semifinals tomorrow with a rematch against the the second-seed/ No.2 Embry-Riddle. The first serve is scheduled for 9:00 a.m.
