Holderbach and Jennewein Recognized With ITA Regional Awards

Holderbach named ITA Most Improved Player and Jennewein ITA Player to Watch; the team also earned the ITA Community Service Award

TEMPE, Ariz. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has announced the 2026 ITA Division II Women's Regional Award winners, with Josie Holderbach and Emily Jennewein honored from Florida Southern College women's tennis.
 
Holderbach was selected as the ITA Most Improved Player from the South Region, just the second Moccasin to earn the award, joining Laia Pasini from 2024. Jennewein earned the ITA Player to Watch award from the South, the first FSC selection since 2013.
 
Holderbach was a strong part of the Florida Southern lineup in 2026, earning All-Sunshine State Conference First Team honors in singles and was selected to the Second Team in doubles, paired with Kennedi Brown. In singles action, she went  11-6 at the top of the lineup. She is 4-2 against nationally ranked opponents and ranked as high as No. 14 in the latest ITA singles rankings. The Götzingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany native helped the Mocs in the doubles portion, having won the last three matches. The pairing was ranked as high as No. 19 in the latest ITA rankings this season. Notable wins included court wins over top-ranked Nova Southeastern, Embry-Riddle, and West Florida. She was also recognized for her academic achievements, being named a College Sports Communicators All-District winner.
 
Jennewein was named as a player to watch in a stacked south region, most recently being awarded the second all-conference award of her career with a Second Team selection in doubles. Jennewein paired with Ronja Scheuermann at the #2 court for a 19-3 record in 2026. The Cincinnati, Ohio native helped the Mocs in the doubles portion, going on 23-0 to open the season. The pairing was ranked as high as No. 42 in ITA rankings this season. Notable wins included court wins over top-ranked Barry, West Florida, and Rollins. She was also named to the CSC Academic All-District team, joining Holderbach, Brown, and Scheuermann.
 
In addition to the individual awards, Florida Southern College women's tennis was awarded the ITA Community Service Award, recognized for the positive impact in our surrounding area.
