BOULDER CITY, Nev. - The No. 3 Florida Southern men's golf team had a strong start to the 2026 NCAA DII Men's Golf Championship at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev. The Mocs finished the day 8-under with a score of 280 to open.
Freshman Anthony Monteleone and veteran Max Barile paced the No.3 Moccasins in their opening round, each finishing 3-under carding a 69. Monteleone carded four birdies with three on the back nine. Barile carded a team-leading five birdies on the day.
Tyler Mistretta finished the round one stroke off of Monteleone and Barile, with a 2-under 70. The graduate student carded four birdies in the round.
Donte Groppuso shot an even 72 to open, starting the day off with an eagle on hole two. He went on to add three more birdies in the round.
Colton Swartz rounds out the Moccasin lineup, shooting a 73 to open (+1). The junior recorded three birdies.
All five Moccasins birdied hole 13 (par 5), and Monteleone, Barile, and Mistretta all birdied holes 5 and 16.

Florida Southern will return to Boulder Creek Golf Club tomorrow for round two of stroke play. Donte Groppuso will be first to tee off at 12:05 PM PT, followed by Anthony Monetelone at 12:16 PM PT, Colton Swartz at 12:27 PM PT, Tyler Mistretta at 12:38 PM PT, and Max Barile at 12:49 PM PT.
