Florida Southern Men Second in SSC Mayors' Cup; Women Sixth Overall

ORLANDO, Fla. - The 2025-26 Sunshine State Conference Mayors' Cup standings for the men's and women's divisions have been released, with Florida Southern College men's teams second in the SSC and the women's teams sixth overall.

The Mayors' Cup was originally presented following the 1986-1987 academic year to recognize the annual SSC all-sports champion. The men's division recognizes competition in nine sports: soccer, cross country, basketball, swimming, golf, tennis, lacrosse, baseball, and outdoor track. The Women's Mayors' Cup recognizes competition in 12 sports: volleyball, soccer, cross country, basketball, swimming, golf, tennis, softball, rowing, outdoor track, beach volleyball, and lacrosse.

The men finished with 62 total points, representing all nine of the eligible sports. The Mocs had an average of 6.889 points per sport, just behind the University of Tampa, which won the Men's Mayors' Cup with a 7.00 average and 56 points from eight sports. The last Florida Southern Mayors' Cup victory on the men's side came after last year's 2024-25 season. Cross country and golf earned the most points towards the total as they each won their respective SSC championships. Basketball garnered nine points as the third-best team in the league. Outdoor track had eight points, followed by baseball with seven points. Tennis and lacrosse each tallied five points, with soccer and swimming earning four points each.

Tampa were the Men's Mayors' Cup champions this season, followed by Florida Southern. Nova Southeastern University, Rollins College, Lynn University, Florida Tech, Barry University, Palm Beach Atlantic University, Embry-Riddle University, Saint Leo University, and Eckerd College round out the remaining breakdown of rankings.

Mayors' Cup scoring is based on regular-season finish for sports with conference standings and championship finish for cross country, outdoor track, golf, rowing, and swimming. For sports where all schools compete, scoring begins with 11 points awarded for finishing first to one point for finishing 11th. In sports where fewer than 11 teams compete, first-place points will be awarded based on the number of teams competing. Head-to-head results will break the SSC regular season standings so that points may be assigned. When head-to-head competition cannot break a tie, Mayors' Cup points will be split.

Florida Southern leads the overall SSC Mayors' Cup battle with 16 dating back to 1987, followed by Tampa with six. Saint Leo, with four, followed by Barry, Florida Tech, Lynn, and Rollins, have all won the cup three times in their histories, while North Florida brought home the title twice before departing the conference, and Nova Southeastern has one.

The women, who lead the conference all-time with 12 Mayors' Cup victories, finished in sixth in the standings for 2025-26. Lacrosse led the way on the women's side with eight points as the SSC champion. Tennis and basketball joined lacrosse as eight-point contributors after stellar seasons. Soccer garnered seven points, cross country five, followed by swimming, golf, and outdoor track, each with four points. Volleyball finished with three, followed by softball with two points to round out the sports represented.

Nova Southeastern took home the cup, followed by Tampa. Embry-Riddle, Florida Tech, and Eckerd round out the top five, while the Mocs came in sixth ahead of Lynn, Palm Beach Atlantic, Saint Leo, Barry, and Rollins.

The women maintain their all-time lead in Mayors' Cup victories with 12, followed by Tampa with eight and Rollins with seven. Barry has five victories, while NSU captured its third all-time Mayors' cup. Saint Leo rounds out the list with one cup victory.
