CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. - The No. 14 Florida Southern women's golf team opened the first round of the NCAA South Regional tied-14th through 18 holes on Monday afternoon. The Moccasins finished the day with a score of 312 (+24) after the opening round at the Cleveland Country Club in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Clare Gimpel led the Mocs in the first round with a four-over 76. She sits tied-23rd, carding one birdie and 12 pars on the day.
Senior Kaley Amuso sits one stroke off Gimpel with a five-over 77 in the opening round. Amuso sits tied-40th with two birdies in the round.
Taylor Zachary opened the regional with a 79 (+7) to finish the day tied-60th. Along with Amuso, she also carded two birdies.
Ava La Belle sits one stroke off Zachary, finishing the round with an 80 (+8). The junior is currently tied-68th, with a birdie on her second hole of the day.
McKinley Holding rounds out the Moccasin lineup tied-86th. The sophomore shot an 82 (+10) in the opening round.

Due to impending weather in Chattanooga on Wednesday, the tournament has been shortened to two days, with a 36-hole shotgun start for the final day of competition on Tuesday, May 5, at 8:30 AM.
The top four teams and two individuals not on advancing teams will move on to the NCAA National Championship at PGA National in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., May 12-16.
