ORLANDO, Fla. – The 2026 Sunshine State Conference Men's Tennis Awards have been released, with Florida Southern College's
Mario Garoz and
Edoardo Melindo represented.
Garoz earned First Team honors in singles and was selected to the Second Team in doubles, paired with Melindo. This is the fourth-straight all-conference award for Garoz, back-to-back years selected to the First Team in singles. Melindo's Second Team doubles recognition is his career's first All-SSC award.
The all-time leader in singles wins in program history, Garoz had a stellar senior year for the Moccasins in 2026. Surpassing the previous mark of 67 singles wins in a career halfway through the year, Garoz has a 17-4 record at the top of the lineup. He is 5-3 against nationally ranked opponents and is currently ranked No. 9 in the latest ITA singles rankings. The Toledo, Spain native paired with Melindo for all but one doubles match this year, currently No. 44 in ITA doubles.
Melindo earned the first all-conference award of his career with a Second Team selection in doubles. Melindo paired with Garoz at the #3 court for a 16-2 record in 2026. The Torino, Italy native helped the Mocs in the doubles portion, having won the last 10 matches. The pairing was ranked as high as No. 25 in ITA rankings this season. Notable wins included court wins over top-ranked West Florida, Barry, and Washburn.
The No. 10 Mocs earned a six-seed selection in the NCAA South Regional and will face No. 8/three-seed Rollins College in the first round on Monday, May 11, at 2 p.m. in Pensacola, Fla., hosted by the University of West Florida.
