BOCA RATON, Fla. — Florida Southern College women's soccer (3-0-5, 0-0-2 SSC) played Lynn University (4-2-1, 0-1-1 SSC) to a 0-0 tie Saturday at Bobby Campbell Stadium. The tie marked the fifth straight shutout of the season, tying a program record set last season.
The Moccasins kept the Fighting Knights off the board through two sustained stretches of pressure and reached halftime tied 0-0. Earlier, Florida Southern opened with two corner kicks in the first five minutes and followed with an
Allie Draper shot on goal that was saved.
Carly Brodsky made saves during the Fighting Knights' first-half push, including stops in the 11th and 18th minutes, while the Mocs also got attempts from
Kyleigh Cilento,
Haydn Ealey and
Emily Fowlkes. The Fighting Knights added another attacking spell from 34:50 to 40:33, but Brodsky saved a shot in the 40th minute and Florida Southern finished the half scoreless.
Florida Southern's biggest push of the second half came late, as it recorded five shots and a corner from 80:17 to 89:18 but could not break the 0-0 tie. Earlier, the Moccasins opened the half with pressure as
Carli Proctor shot wide,
Sierra Spirk forced a save, and
Hayden Johnston later missed high in the 61st minute. The Fighting Knights answered with a corner and two shots before Brodsky made a save in the 78th minute to keep the match scoreless. The Mocs continued to press in the final minutes with attempts from
Frankie Gatien,
Ava Hackworth,
Addyson Denecour and Johnston, but the half ended without a goal and the match finished 0-0.
Brodsky played all 90 minutes in goal, recorded four saves and finished with a shutout. Tonight's game marked her fifth shutout of the season and 19th of her career. Johnston shared the team lead with two shots. Hackworth added two shots off the bench. Florida Southern finished with a 12-9 shot advantage, including an 8-3 edge after halftime.
Emma Brunelli played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded three saves in a shutout. Brisa Sastre finished with a team-high two shots, including one on goal. Alejandra Yallonardo also tallied two shots and put one on frame.
