A split of Friday's doubleheader with Barry gave the Moccasins the series two games to one and kept them alone in first place in the Sunshine State Conference.
The Moccasins won the first game 8-7 before Barry claimed the second game 15-2.
The doubleheader split leaves the Moccasins' record at 33-7, 13-2 in the SSC. Barry is 33-6, 12-3 in the SSC.
Nick Stanley's two-run homer in the bottom of the fifth in game one gave the Moccasins a 6-5 lead. They tacked on insurance runs in the sixth on an RBI-single by Wade Kirkland and in the seventh on a pop fly to the shortstop that resulted in a sacrifice fly by Colin Kish, scoring Robbie Shields, who had led off the inning with a double.
Daniel Tillman got out of a bases-loaded eighth inning jam by striking out Yas Gutierrez and Yudelmis Hernandez to end the inning. In the ninth he had to work out of trouble of his own making, as he gave up a two-run double to Nick Shaw to make it an 8-7 game, but he struck out SSC batting leader Danny Lima to end the game and record his 10th save of the season.
Kirkland and Trae Gore each had three hits for the Moccasins and every starter had at least one, as FSC handed Barry's Charley Short his first loss in 10 decisions. Stephen Batman made the pitching start for the Moccasins, but left in the fifth inning and got a no-decision. Jake Guengerich, who worked an inning in relief, picked up the win, raising his record to 3-0.
The second game was all Barry, as the Moccasins suffered their first home loss in 24 games this season. Brad McAllister pitched a complete game to raise his record to 7-0. Eddie Sipple, the first of seven Moccasin pitchers used in the game, took the loss, dropping his record to 2-1. Will Cherry was hitless in the second game, ending his hitting streak at 15 games.
The Moccasins play a non-conference game Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Henley Field against Embry-Riddle.
