Box Score VALDOSTA, Ga. - A 54-point outburst in the second half enabled the Moccasins to cruise past North Alabama, 91-62, Saturday in the Sunshine State Conference-Gulf South Conference Challenge at Valdosta, Ga., and gave FSC a split in its two games.
Leading 37-30 at halftime, the Moccasins started the second half with a 22-6 run in the first seven-and-a-half minutes that put the game out of reach. The Moccasins enjoyed their biggest lead of 32 points at 87-55 with 1:49 remaining and again at 90-58 with 0:47 left.
Brandon Jenkins scored 19 points to lead a group of five players in double figures. He hit three of the Moccasins' nine three-pointers in the game. Preston Fredrick and Terry Jenkins each scored 15 points, while Fredrick pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Damon Ellison tossed in 10 points and delivered a career-high six assists, while Cameron Wooten came off the bench to toss in 11 points.
The Moccasins shot 62.1 percent from the field in the second half (18-29) and finished the game shooting 50.8 percent. North Alabama shot just 35.3 percent from the field. FSC won the rebound battle with a 43-30 advantage and forced the Lions into 20 turnovers.
Next Saturday, the sixth-ranked Moccasins play their home opener against 14th-ranked South Carolina-Aiken at 1 p.m. at Jenkins Field House.
