Mocs Roll Past Saints 95-41

With four players scoring in double figures and leading from start to finish, the Moccasins rolled past Flagler, 95-41, Saturday at Jenkins Field House.  The win improved the Moccasins' record to 6-1, while Flager fell to 2-4.

Chelsea Johnson's layup with 12:14 left in the first half put the Moccasins' lead into double digits for good at 17-7.  The lead was 44-21 at halftime and the Moccasins' final 54-point margin was their largest in a game since a 109-39 victory over Puerto Rico-Mayaguez on Nov. 25, 2002.

Johnson finished with a season-high 20 points, hitting eight of 12 from the field, two of three three-pointers and two of two from the free throw line to go with seven rebounds, six assists and four steals.

Emma Cannon added 17 points, seven rebounds and five steals.  Off the bench the Moccasins received double-figure scoring efforts from Morgan Lamberg and Taylor Maldonado with 12 and 10 points respectively.  Tierra Ford led Flagler with 17 points.

Thanks to a second half in which they shot 64.5%, the Moccasins shot 52.1% from the field for the game.  Flagler shot just 27.1%.  The Moccasins connected on nine three-pointers, compared to just one for the Saints.  FSC had a 45-32 rebounding edge, produced 18 steals and forced 31 Flagler turnovers. 

Next Saturday and Sunday the Moccasins will host the Holiday Inn South Classic at Jenkins Field House.  Saturday at 3 p.m. the Moccasins meet Indianapolis (4-3) and Tampa (5-2) takes on St. Augustine's (5-2) at 5 p.m.   Sunday Tampa plays Indianapolis at noon and the Moccasins play St. Augustine's at 2 p.m.
