For the second straight year, Baseball America has ranked a Moccasin baseball player as the top draft prospect in Division II.
Last year shortstop Robbie Shields was the publication's selection as the top draft prospect and he subsequently was the top Division II player chosen, picked in the third round by the New York Mets.
Reliever Daniel Tillman has that distinction this season. Tillman, a junior, led the Sunshine State Conference with 12 saves last season and had an outstanding summer pitching in the Cape Cod League, allowing no runs in 16 games.
Teammate Max Russell, a 10-game winner last season, is ranked sixth on the list of top draft prospects in Division II. Tillman and Russell both are included among the Division II players to watch this season.
In addition to the individual recognition for Tillman and Russell, the Moccasins are Baseball America's pick for the top team in Division II. Emporia State, last year's Division II runner-up, is picked for second, followed by UC-San Diego, defending national champion Lynn and Tampa.
