Mocs Hold Off UMD Rally For 3-2 Win

The top-ranked Moccasins withstood a ninth-inning rally by Minnesota-Duluth to post a 3-2 victory at Henley Field Wednesday night.

The win was the Moccasins' sixth straight and raised their record to 22-2 Minn.-Duluth fell to 4-8.

Tucker Pryor worked eight scoreless innings and left with a 3-0 lead and closer Daniel Tillman on the mound.

Tillman did strike out the side for his sixth save of the season, but in between strikeouts the Bulldogs combined two walks, two singles and a wild pitch to score twice. They had runners on second and third before pinch hitter Josh Foreman struck out to end the game.

Tillman's save was the 23rd of his career, which ties the FSC career record set by Kyle DeYoung (2005-06).

Pryor improved his record to 4-0, scattering four hits, striking out seven and walking one.

Zach Maggard's solo home run in the third got the Moccasins on the scoreboard. They added an unearned run in the fourth when Colin Kaline scored on an error. Trae Gore's sacrifice fly that scored Maggard in the fifth proved to be the difference in the game.

The Moccasins begin a three-game Sunshine State Conference series with Saint Leo Friday night at 7 at Henley Field.
