WEST PALM BEACH - With rain expected to move through the area later in the afternoon, Florida Southern and Palm Beach Atlantic have moved up the starting time of their Saturday doubleheader. The teams hope to get the first game underway by 1:45, approximately 15 minutes earlier than originally scheduled.
The Sailfish swept an earlier doubleheader from the Moccasins in February and are currently ranked #6 in the latest NCAA Division II South Region rankings. On May 9, eight teams will be selected for the South Region Tournament, with automatic bids going to the champions of the Sunshine State Conference, the Gulf South Conference, and the Southern Intercollegiate Conference. As an independent, Palm Beach Atlantic will have to qualify as an at-large selection, making Saturday's games with Florida Southern especially critical for the Sailfish. Should PBA receive a bid, it would be the first appearance for any of the school's athletic teams in the NCAA Tournament.
