Box Score MIAMI SHORES - The Moccasins' seven-game winning streak fell victim to a hot-shooting Barry team that handed FSC a 77-55 defeat Saturday at Miami Shores.
Barry shot 55.6 percent from the field for the game and the Moccasins never recovered from an early spurt by the Buccaneers. Leading 7-5, Barry went on a 12-0 run that built the lead to 19-5 and the Moccasins never got closer than 11 points the rest of game. The Buccaneers expanded their 40-29 halftime lead with an 11-0 run to start the second half and led by as many as 28, 71-43, with 6:56 left in the game.
The Moccasins suffered their first Sunshine State Conference loss in three outings and dropped to 10-4 overall. Barry improved to 4-8, 1-3 in the SSC.
In addition to their hot shooting from the field, the Buccaneers out-rebounded FSC 38-23. The Moccasins shot 35 percent from the field. The 55 points are the fewest the Moccasins have scored in a game this season.
No one scored in double figures for the Moccasins. Damon Ellison and Jay Hubble each had eight points to lead FSC's scoring. Hubble's eight points off the bench marked his season scoring high. It's the first time since a 62-42 loss to Grand Valley State on Dec. 30, 2006, that the Moccasins have not had a double figure scorer in a game.
Barry, on the other hand, was led by Zack Trapp's 23 points that included five three-pointers and a 16-point, 15-rebound double-double from Willie Whitfield.
The Moccasins are at home Wednesday night for a 7:30 SSC game against Eckerd.
