Mocs Roll Past Flagler For Sixth Straight Win, 99-48

Playing their first game after coming in at No. 22 in the USA TODAY/ESPN Division II national poll this week, the Moccasins rolled to their sixth straight win without a loss, 99-48, over Flagler Wednesday night at St. Augustine.

The Saints (1-4) kept the game close for the first eight minutes, trailing only 12-8 with just over 12 minutes left in the first half, but the Moccasins went on a 20-2 run in the next seven minutes to put the game out of reach.
 
Leading 49-16 at halftime, the Moccasins never saw their lead drop below 31 points in the second half.
 
Michaela Hawley led four Moccasins in double figures with a season-high 29 points.  She was 12-17 from the field.  Her 29 points moved her over the 1,300-point mark in her career with 1,316.  She had seven rebounds to raise her career total to 559, putting her in a tie for 16th with Tina Gillems (2000-03) on the FSC career rebounding list.

Alexis Hochstetler scored a career-high 16 points and Tracy Fosterling posted her season-high, also scoring 16.  Sofie Lundberg came off the bench to toss in a season-high 15 points, including four three-pointers. Melanie Ducott logged 28 minutes off the bench and delivered 11 assists and had four steals.
 
The Moccasins had 99 points with 1:31 left in the game after Indre Mikelenaite connected on a three-pointer, but they were unable to connect on their final three shots and missed a chance to hit the century mark.
 
FSC shot 57 percent from the field (42-73), while Flagler shot just 28 percent (18-64).
 
The Moccasins play their Sunshine State Conference opener Saturday at 2 p.m. at preseason favorite Rollins.  The Tars, ranked 18th, won their SSC opener Wednesday night with a 58-56 road win at Tampa to improve to 6-1.
