Kish has Monster Game, but Mocs Fall

Colin Kish went 5-6 with two triples and eight RBI's but it wasn'€™t enough as the thirteenth ranked Florida Southern fell to Nova Southeastern Sunday afternoon at NSU baseball complex. With the win Nova improves to 32-14 overall and 16-5 in the SSC, while Florida Southern fell to 27-14 and 11-7 in conference play.

Nova Struck first in the bottom of the first inning as Andrew Durden and Areo Regoli hit back-to-back homeruns to give the sharks a 3-0 lead.

The Moccasins responded scoring three runs in the second to tie the game. Mike Snyder single to led off the inning, followed by Tony Mitchell who drew a walk. Then, Kish hit a triple to centerfield to drive in two runs. Kish would score on a Zach Maggard single.

The Sharks would get two more runs in the bottom of the second as Nikko Echevarria hit a two-run homer.

The Moccasins bats would strike in the third inning as well. Colin Kaline and Kelvin Clark both singled to start the inning. Snyder drew a walk to load the bases for Mitchell who reached on an error as Kaline and Clark both scored. After Tyler Benzel singled load the bases, Kish cleared the bases with a 3-run double to left field to put the Mocs on top 8-5.

Florida Southern would extend their lead to 10-5, after scoring two runs in the fourth. After loading the bases, Mitchell would hit a sacrifice fly which scored Kaline. Kish hit into a fielder's choice which scored Clark.

The Sharks would combine to score 18 runs in the fourth and fifth innings, with the Moccasins scoring one run in between.

Kish would hit his second triple of the game to center field in the sixth inning. He would later score on a Sharks'€™ throwing error.

In the eighth inning Kish would hit a two-out single, advance to second on an A.J. Szatkowski walk, and score on an Austin Chubb single to center.

Jimmy Correnti singled to lead off the ninth inning. After Mitchell got hit with the pitch, Benzel hit a single to load the bases. Kish delivered a two-run double to right field for the 24-15 final.

Kish finished the game with eight RBI'€™s, which is one shy of a Florida Southern record on most RBI€™s in a game of 9 by Fernando Arguelles on February 21, 1987. His two triples were also one shy of the school record.

Florida Southern will return to action next weekend with a three-game series at Florida Tech. Saturday'€™s single game begins at 6:30 p.m., this will be the first home-night game in Florida Tech baseball history. Sunday's doubleheader is slated for noon.
