Box Score 2 Kyle Jackson's two-out, RBI-double scored Mike Snyder with the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning to give the Moccasins a 6-5 win over Lincoln Memorial and a sweep of Saturday's doubleheader at Henley Field. The Moccasins won the first game 7-2.
Snyder had walked and Jackson's fly ball toward the left field corner tailed away from left fielder Curt Fuqua, who was able to get his glove on it, but couldn't hold it and Snyder scored all the way from first. Jackson's hit was his fourth of the game, after collecting a pair of hits in the first game. Austin Jackson, the fourth Moccasin pitcher, worked the top of the eighth and got the win to even his record at 1-1.
Lincoln Memorial scored a run in the sixth to tie the game and force extra innings in the scheduled seven-inning contest. Cody Baker dropped a two-out double down the right field line that brought home Brandon Morris to tie the game at 5-5.
Neither team was able to score in the seventh. The Railsplitters had the bases loaded with one out and couldn't score. The Moccasins had runners at first and third with two outs and didn't score.
FSC started the game with back-to-back homers from Cory Jensen and T.J. Kuban and also got a solo homer in the fourth from Brad Carlton.
In the first game, the Moccasins took advantage of three Lincoln Memorial errors in the seventh inning to score four unearned runs with two outs, then tacked on two more runs in the eighth.
Jensen had three hits in the game, including a solo homer, and Jackson had two hits.
Jake Guengerich pitched the first seven innings and picked up the win to even his record at 1-1. Clay Chapman and Nate Carter each pitched a scoreless inning in relief.
The Moccasins play Polk County rival Warner Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Henley Field.
